Better yet, she was driven out after singing the National Anthem

If the story line had Roseanne's absence explained by her running away to Mexico seeking refuge from the persecution she thinks she is experiencing in the USA it might be amusing. ;)
Least ways it would have a realistic tone to it. Her excursions there would provide much to the theme of life in America. ;P

I don't like the other characters without Roseanne carrying the load of the show. I wouldn't watch it because of that preference that I just don't care for the rest of the characters or cast.

John Goodman was pretty good in King Ralph. I'd watch it if it dealt with Dan as a focus.

Don't know if I'll watch it but maybe if there's nothing better on tv.

I also like Dan (John Goodman) but I think they should scrub everything "Roseanne" and just start fresh with a completely different story line. I've always found Roseanne to be obnoxious and crude.

That's close to what I was thinking. It might have been possible to find a replacement for Roseanne, the mom in the show and lead character, but they have chosen to make the focus of the family be the daughter. IMHO, this is a formula for failure for several reasons.

That does seem to convey the message well of the Conner's all-american family. Dad plus kids, the village, and not a mother in site.

Well, the show had been a surprise hit. For that reason, and although the network shot itself in the foot by cancelling, I can see them trying to shuffle the characters.

Having a new format in addition to the absence of Roseanne herself makes it a different show, regardless of the scripts, and the composition of the audience cannot help but be different.

They didn't shoot themselves in the foot but they did lose an opportunity for economic gain because they cancelled the show after the remarks that Roseanne made. Her remarks would have made the show problematic for the rest of its season.

I agree that it will be a different show once the 'star' is gone. So if they want to employ the actors (Roseanne excepted) then a new show or shows with those actors would be the way to go. Trying to stick with the theme and format minus Roseanne is unlikely to be a good move.

Sure, they did. They had a surprise hit on their hands and then cancelled it in order to be PC. That wasn't why most people watched it.

They are now scrambling, which shows that the network knows what it did in haste, but they have no chance of regaining what they gave up.

If the Democrats were to call on their Antifa, Occupy Wall Street, and other professional rioters, maybe...but not simply because of viewers being disaffected. That never doomed the many more successful TV shows currently running which feature stars who have made hate speech their stock in trade...albeit from the opposite side of the political spectrum. Think Alec Baldwin, Jimmy Kimmel, Samantha Bee, Stephen Colbert, and others. All going strong.

She is crass obnoxious and insulting so pulling her was a good thing. I do not like anyone like her and what she did to the National Anthem was a disgrace, I am not a member of any professional rioters or anything else, just a throughly disgusted american.

That's all very reasonable and understandable, if somewhat beside the point.

There's cause to be glad that the show is gone now, after Roseanne Barr's twitter remarks.
