I get REAL depressed at night. I know its cause I was abused at night so I see night as a bad thing. What are things I can do to help me at night. I do try and go to bed early but sometimes thats hard.

I have certain times that are much harder than others, too. I try to do something to lighten my mood, like watch something on Netflix or a comedy. Sometimes journaling can help, too. Have you ever written a letter to your abuser? I have done that and then read it at his grave. It's not something you have to send them. I've heard that part of depression is that is can be anger turned inward. It's okay to get angry and write the letter when you are and go off on the abuser in your writing, instead of yourself.

Ruth I understand depression and yes it can be anger turned inward, I know but the good news is that we have Jesus and as long as we know He is with us then we also know that He is bigger than any problem we face

I think you have to practice good self care and do things that know you enjoy. Sometimes if I am feeling down I will draw or write or post an entry on my blog or go take a walk

Yes, and Jesus works through people to help others, too.

I too was ABhorrently-USED as a ten years old

?

I have no-wish to go around TOPPING pedophiles
I have suffered from Haemorrhoids ever-since
and still have a repeat prescription at the pharmacy for XYLOPROCT
I have No-Trouble sleeping Day or, Night

We are all different_ 'clinical depression' can be a killer
It is generally-accepted, that it can takes as long to recover, as it took to become ill

After, that incident in my garden shed (2004)
My then spouse, told everyone we knew that I, was 'off my head'
and needed to visit a psychiatrist. Not being able to handle that (accept it as true)
I went to see my doctor who then prescribed anti-depressants for me
I queried my being unbalanced with him and he made me an appointment with psychiatrist
~
After a two hour session with the psychiatrist, I was told, that I had been open with her
and she felt I was handling 'my problems logically and sympathetically' and
"I think I need to make an appointment for your wife"

:D
When I got home she was 'all ears'
~like she was about to hear about my lobotomy appointment
"There is nothing wrong with the way I am dealing with my life, but the psychiatrist wants to make an appointment to see you"

"I'm not bloody crazy" she said "I am not going"
turning she walked into the living room door. I laughed so hard that I had to run to the bathroom :D

Sure! if you believe everything you are told_ you won't believe yourself
YOU, are able, to 'look-back' ~to a time before you 'got depressed' ?
and, if you keep-notes, of those reminiscences
you CAN arrive at the cause of this 'depression' which is what you need to deal with FIRST

DRAG it out into the open _ grow from it
Do Not RUN AWAY

I was having my 'symptoms' treated _ and, NOT 'the cause'

Just as soon as DIVORCE was on the table....
my depression was history and no, I did not hang-myself
I obeyed the 'voice' that told me to "WAIT UNTIL MORNING"
when, just as the voice had said "THINGS, WILL BE DIFFERENT THEN" ~truly were
I'd been alone in that shed, a little after 1.30am

Deal, with the cause, handle-it, resist it, give it the disrespect that it deserves and stay well
