When is our name written in the book of life?

Did God write our name's in the book of life when he predestined the believers and then when did he blot some out?

I leave this largely up to mystery....

But I think there is a sense in which our names were written before the universe was created.... BUT that does not mean that ERGO we are justified since thing (justification applies to each when faith is given to us)... and I would not insist that WE cannot remove our name from that list (even if tempoarily).... I suspect there is SOME sense that we can wreck our faith even if we cannot cause our faith (as one put it, "I cannot give myself life but I can end it"). But I think this whole "Book of Life" thing is Gospel - and needs to be presented as such, not twisted into Law and fear. It is good to know my name is there..... there is a place card on the banquet table of heaven that has my name on it - Soli Deo Gloria.
We are justified by works - just not our own.

I'm guessing it happened before the world was created and yeah just looked it up and it was before the foundations of the world so there's that. About your other question could it be when man rejects God that he gets scratched out since nothing can pluck a man from God's hand even though a man can jump out and fall away.
If you want to rile people up then go to a Christian site and give God ALL the glory for your salvation.

God exists out of time. He is not bound within it since time itself is a creation of God's doing.
Therefore, when scripture says we have been chosen from before the foundation of the world, I accept it as factual.
God sees all things as happening at once. The fall of Adam, the parting of the Red Sea, the Cross, this very moment...they all happen simultaneously with God because He exists outside of time. The closest, flawed, analogy is that of viewing a parade from a Blimp. You can see the beginning and end of the parade all at once from your point of view. God sees it all happening at once.
Therefore, I consider that the Book of Life has always been written down from God's perspective. There are no surprises, no last second changes from God's point of view. Our view, on the other hand, is very narrow and we cannot see what God sees. We must live by faith, not by sight.
God knows. I am content in this truth. He will do what is right and good.

However, does it not say that we can be blotted out? I guess free will has something to do with it after all

IMO, our "free will" has nothing to do with our being GIVEN life. But yes, I suspect it is at least theoretically possible that we can wreck our faith and THUS end our justification (some uber-Calvinists will disagree with me on that point). Similarly, I didn't "chose" to be given physical life... but I can terminate it?

My educated guess would be that We are chosen in Him from the foundation of the world yet our names are not written in the Lambís Book of Life until we place our trust in Jesus Christ. That is when I believe our names are written there.
I would like to add that I believe that all born into the world have an opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior yet because of free will not all will accept Him.

There is some contradiction in your guess.
I always wonder where people get the theory of free-will because it is not taught in the Bible as it relates to being a redeemed child of God.

I don't see a contradiction. If you do please explain to me.

      From the Scriptures

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
      John 1:12-13
Takes free will to receive Him

If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord .Ē
      Joshua 24:15-16

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,
      Deuteronomy 30:19 -

Choice is an act of the will. We use free choice every day. Scripture says we "choose" life or death
