Trump may announce Tuesday at 2 pm that he will withdraw the US from the Iran Deal. The washington post reports

"President Trump intends to announce his decision on the future of the Iran nuclear deal on Tuesday, days ahead of a self-imposed deadline and amid signals that he will withdraw the United States three years after the Obama administration signed the pact.
Trump said in a Monday afternoon tweet that he will make a statement at the White House at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The announcement comes after a flurry of entreaties from European allies, including in-person pleas last week from French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, for Trump to reconsider his opposition to the deal and maintain support.
But Trump has continued to rail against the 2015 agreement with Iran, which was also signed by five other nations — China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany — as well as the European Union."

Well to be fair, we do not really know what his decision is going to be. I am not an American citizen, so I do not have any axe to grind regarding how the American people vote, but this president has become known for one thing - he does not always do what you expect!

What's more, the average American doesn't really know what the agreement provided for and/or prohibited. Therefore, it is not something we are adequately prepared to evaluate.

But it does often appear that a lot of Americans know that everything Trump does is bad, or that everything Trump does is good (depending which way they voted). They may not understand the issues, they may not be able to explain what's going on, but the talking heads on CNN/Fox tell them that Trump is bad/good and so they know what to believe today.

Well, to be fair, most of those people, on either side, can point to some specifics that they either approve of or disagree with.

That does not hold true with the Iran deal IMO. About all that most people have been given to know is that it was the best we could do under the circumstances or else that it gave Iran almost everything it wanted in return for just promising to delay their nuclear plans. Either way, that's not much to go on.

Many people in my generation remembers the hostages that Iran held during the Carter administration for 444 days (a group of 60 hostages) and the burning of American flags by the Iranians and don't trust any agreement with the Iranians. Plus their desire to rid the world of the Jewish people and fear that they would use nuclear weapons on Israel if they had the chance. I simply don't believe the Iranian government can be trusted with any agreement no matter what it is.

Sure, a lot of people can point to something specific they approve/disapprove of. The trouble is these days there seems to be a growing push for things to be universal. So if, for example, you disapprove of Trump pulling out of the Paris Accord then the extension of that is that you disapprove of everything Trump does. Conversely if you approve of Trump pulling out of Paris the extension is that you approve of everything he does.

As you say it often seems opinion on the existing deal is that it's either a "peace in our time" deal in the same vein as the similarly named piece of paper triumphantly wielded by Neville Chamberlain, or it was the best deal that could be negotiated without just walking away, depending on whether you view Obama as a good negotiator or as an appeaser above all else.

I freely admit to knowing virtually nothing about the Iran deal (although since I'm not an American I may arguably claim a somewhat lower expectation) so it's hard to say whether pulling out of it is a good move or a bad move.
