I agree. All of this is just so frustrating. :(

Yes it is. I woke up from a nap yesterday with a blood sugar of 38. That was as low as it has been in a long time. I drank two juice bottles and it went up to 69 and then gradually went up from there.

Went to the hospital yesterday for a horrible headache and stomachache. They of course checked my sugars and they were 389 and they got them down to 320 with fluids. They gave me pains meds and did a CT on my stomach. Nothing showed. Kinda wished something would have so then they would of done something. :(

Metformin makes my stomach feel like there are rocks in it when I take it on a empty stomach. It should always be taken with food

If you go back to the ER ask for a insulin prescription and a referral to a endocrinologist.

I will do that cause this is just so dumb that my doctor didn't prescribe it.

I hope everyone with diabetes is doing better.

I have been told I'm prediabetic. The nurse was concerned about me this month when she checked my sugar and it was over 400. I had just eaten though. I didn't know that being 400 was very high. I'll be going to a new doctor soon.

Being prediabetic can you change it so you don't have diabetes?

400 IS high. :( Its not 500 which is VERY high but its close to it.

Praying for you and your new doctor.

Your not prediabetic if your 400. Your diabetic.

Thanks for the concern. This is the first time it was so high and I had eaten a whole lot right before the test.

I'm not trying to be mean. A blood sugar of 400 is not typical for a non diabetic. It would be typical for me if I don't take my insulin and I've been diabetic for 15 years.

You might try going to a diabetic educator to discuss with them diet and strategies to help you slow the progression of this problem. I know when i was initially diagnosed I went to a lot of classes. The area hospital near me has a support group. You might try going to one of those just to network with other people and learn some things. Just a thought

Keep an eye on that! That sounds scary to me. When I was in the hospital (I don't have diabetes but was on meds that raised blood sugar levels) and one test came back at over 200 I freaked out because I never had issues before. A nurse told the one testing to check on another finger and it came back as normal. Whew. I don't know how that works!

You can have a false high sometimes if you don't wash your hands before testing. I've had that happen before. If you get a false high you should wash your hands and then change the lancet needle on the device you use to prick your finger and then try again. Sometimes people who have been diabetic for a while have been known not to change the lancet everytime, but that shouldn't of been a problem at the hospital.

I don't change it every time. And I know I have gotten false readings as it would be one number and at the hospital it would be a totally different one.

That's dangerously high. You need to get on insulin
