I remember years ago, back in the times when I was overtly hostile to anything that looked like an organised religion, a friend of mine showed me around the church he was attending. It was huge, it felt more like a conference center than a church. He seemed very proud of the fact the "minister" enjoyed platinum flyer status with most of the major airlines because he flew something like 25 times a month. I couldn't help but wonder how he had time to tend his church if he spent so much time traveling.

Sadly when my friend needed some pastoral care the answer became clear. He didn't. He and his family were very happy for church members to give them free rides to the airport but when anything was asked of them, sorry, too busy, no can do. Even when church members were sick it seemed nobody noticed, certainly nobody ever checked on them.
