Are Immigration Laws Racist?

I was reading an article on CNN and a black southern preacher claims that Immigration Laws are racist. Do you agree?

I'd be interested to see why this person claims the laws are racist. These days it sometimes seems that everything is discriminating against somebody, if you believe the ones quickest to whine.

Not racist, it's about money, well here. If you come from America, welcome, from a poor country: bye go away except when you're a muslim terrorist. I get that they get sick and tired of paying for all those ppl, but the rules are antisocial now.
If an American wants to marry a Dutch and live here: welcome! A Brazilian: Go first do our get like us course and those questions are horrible oh then you still cant come unless you bring money.

To the best of my knowledge, his wife is a LEGAL immigrant and a citizen. Do you have information to the contrary?

So what? They let her in. America is not as antisocial as Holland, but if he'd be the boss here and tell someone's wife from such a country that she cant come over then he'd have to kick his wife out too. The comparison isnt so good. But it is nice and cosy to get your wife from another country but kick the others out. His lookalike here is the same. Has a wife from Roemenia, but the other Roemenians he wants to kick out cause he's racist. He's not ruling though.

It's not racism, but national socialism like w Hitler. Own ppl first. Double rules. A person who wants to come and work here from Africa may not come, yet a lazy Dutch drugaddict who refuses to work gets taken care of. Then you can better do it like it used to be in America: welcome, but arrange your own house and work for your money.
Problem is of course all these ISIS jerks, so no problem discriminating on those and kicking those out. Problem is not every muslim is an ISIS jerk and some are persecuted by em, but how can you see who is who?

The 'so what' is that your claim of a double standard is completely wrong.

You were trying to make two very different situations look like they are the same. What's more, the President has clearly and frequently made the distinction, so no one should be misrepresenting his stance.

There's also a huge difference between people who want to move to a new country to build a new life and contribute to society in their new home, people who want to flee persecution and build a new life somewhere safer (contributing to their new host society), and people who just want to go where they get the most free stuff and live like a leech on the back of everybody else.

Personally I'd opt for a looser immigration policy with a much tighter welfare policy, that effectively says you're welcome to come and live here unless there's a specific reason you're considered undesirable (e.g. a criminal, terrorist etc) but don't expect anybody to be paying for you to live here. If you want to come and live in an expensive city like London, New York, LA etc then have at it, but be aware that the streets are cold at night if you can't afford a place to live.

I don't think race, gender, ethnicity, color, religion should matter...

I think it SHOULD matter if one is a criminal and would be unlikely to be able to get a solid job here..... I think we do Americans a disfavor to welcome dangerous people, and we are doing EVERYONE a disfavor to welcome someone who will either be homeless or "on the dole."

none of that makes any sense, I hope you know. (sigh)
It does make sense. I heard that the American version isnt as dangerous though cause that is not one tiny country. Still it is a sin to not let foreigners who flee from war countries in and one woman prophecied that we will treat em like the Jews before ww2 and the measure of sin will be full. Thats the last sin, no hospitality, that was in Sodom. So its hard. I'm glad I'm not a politician. You can't let whole Africa live in Holland, but the way they have kicked ppl out is outright evil. We had a guy in church, he got beaten up in Iran for being a christian and they wanted to send him back and they'd try to kill him again.
They have sent whole families back to dangerous countries so we have more money. Been going on for decades here.

It's racist to have some orderly system for legal immigration? To not just let people walk across the border regardless of who they are???

We take in more immigrants than any other nation on Earth and most of them are non-white. So, racism??

And then there was that move to calling it 'National Socialism like w Hitler?? '

No, maybe I shouldn't say that it all doesn't make sense, but I was trying to keep from saying what I really think about it.

Normal rules are needed. You can't let everyone in. Floods of ppl want to come. For 2 years there are ppl in camps in Greece in the cold in tents. It's horrible. Nobody wants em. No you go take em. No we're full hear. God is not crazy. It's all about me, me, me, us, we rich ppl in the rich countries and the rest can stay away. If you let em all in that's gonna cost you. Everyone who comes here has to be taken care of financially and w a house. There are not enough cheap houses. Dutch ppl get mad. We come first. People in general are just antisocial. In that prophecy she said that after a bomb the rich countries would be polluted and ppl would try to flee to Africa, but they wouldn't let them in either. It's Always easy talking when you have a cosy life in a rich country to let a refugee rot or go to america, we don't have place for you, no go to europe, Australia lets America take em. It's the same everywhere if you ask me.

without knowing which laws he is talking about I wouldn't know. They could be. But, the country has a right to put laws in place to protect the Sovereignty (there's that word again) of our national borders.
