I found out today that "clips" are used inside the body during surgery to clamp blood vessels...and these get left behind! They didn't tell me about this and this morning I found one sticking out of my incision on my neck! There might be another one working its way out as my body is rejecting these things and I have to watch out for infection.

Has anyone had anything left behind from surgery?

A Phone? LOL

Wow that’s crazy. Like you need to deal with this on top of everything else.

My mother had many clips put in her when she had a lumpectomy for breast cancer. They really bothered her and she wished they hadn't put them where they did. That would be most bothersome to me, too, Lamm. Is it okay to take them out?

I don't think they can go in and remove them because they are so small and deep in the neck. I'll just have to live with the possibility that they could work their way out at any time and cause infection as it happens. I keep saying that modern surgery isn't so modern!

So, it sounds like they left them in intentionally?
I remember working in a trauma hospital back in 2006 as a chaplain. We would have to go to trauma calls, so I got to watch the doctors fix people up and sometimes do cpr and other stuff. It is amazing what they can do.

Yes, they leave them because they're clamping the blood vessels. I wish I knew how many are inside me!!

I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I hope they will keep a watch on that.
