Yes many prayers and Islamic state had nothing to do with it as he had no connection at all to them

Indeed. Another example of that group lying to draw attention to itself.

I suspect that some things are isolated. Real reasons go with the person when they leave.

In all these wicked events by rebellious human beings, we are confronted with God and his permissive will, which gave assent to allow human depravity the right to act heinously against fellow rebels.
In these moments, what biblical message do we share to a grieving people?

In times like this I don't think these people need a sermon. They need to see love in action as others show compassion to them.

The Holy Gospel. Jesus Christ came to earth to save such as these. He died and was resurrected and reigns with the Father. When the Lord returns in glory, the dead will be resurrected. Jesus had His forty days in the wilderness, His Gethsemane and we were warned that these things would surely come. Cold and pat comfort, perhaps, but at least we can be sure that God has not forgotten us ( although it sure seems like that today!) and that God willing, we'll be able to take comfort in the only place we can.. in Jesus.

It is true that at times like these that nobody wants to hear a sermon. However a sermon is just what people need. People need to hear about the spiritual battle that is intensifying in our world today. People need Lord Jesus. People need to turn from their wicked ways and repent. Maybe, in the aftermath of these terrible events, the killings, the floods, the storms, the earthquakes, the devastations , a lot of people will wake up and repent. The world is not getting better, but more and more depraved.

Often people will blame God for not intervening. They may decide to be atheists out of anger.
What is our message of reconciliation to a world that blames God for not intervening?
What biblical text do we use to comfort those who are questioning God's existence?
Yes, we stay quiet and love in deed. But, when the questions come, what is our answer?

The quick answer is that we live in a fallen world with a perfect saviour for an imperfect world, one who does not impose His will on us, we have free will and some use that to do evil

Pray for the fallen and for the one who killed them. The moment where it happened is past what will come of it now?

God has, by his sovereign ordination, chosen to allow a rebel to murder other rebels and certainly a few saints in Las Vegas. We can either "curse God and die" as Jobs wife suggested, or we can receive both the good and the bad from God as Job stated.
I have found in my own life that God weaves both the bright threads as well as the dark threads into my life as a means of sanctification in making me in God's image.
May we "learn to kiss the wave that tosses us onto the Rock of Ages." (C.H. Spurgeon)
