It's a rather chill and damp day out today, and I had a yearning for the chicken noodle soup I used to eat many years ago.

However animal products are off the menu always, and Corporation food as well when I have a mind to avoid, so in lieu of this I made some homemade soup with similar noodles, lentils, shiitake mushroom, spring onion, garlic, tomato paste, salt, Italian herbs, crushed dill and pepper. It was delicious.

2 of my meals today were broccoli and tomato sandwiches on whole wheat, with American mustard.

Broccoli is so much better for you raw, but I found I prefer the steamed kind, which I used instead. The major problem with steaming it is that the enzyme that creates sulforaphane is destroyed...unless you chop it up first and wait for an hour, before steaming, which I did.

Did you make your own tots? I put some frozen ones in my air fryer a couple months ago and they tasted really good. I usually don't eat them too often but it's a nice change every now and again.

I actually have made them in the past. They're sort of not worth the effort...if I start with potatoes, I'm usually going to grate it up for simple hash browns instead. The ones I had today were store bought frozen, and I cooked them in a covered pan with a little water to defrost, then a little oil.

I don't have oatmeal that often, but I decided to today.

Rolled oats, soaked in water (did not cook) with raw sugar, cocoa powder and slices of banana. It was very yummy and satisfying.

I started sewing bowl cozies for when I eat oatmeal and soup...it helps me to bring the bowl to the table without burning my hands! I'll be posting pics on my crafting forum sometime soon.

Pretty much my staple for the last 3 days:

Morning coffee: Coffee beans and sprouted barley grinded, boiled, then filtered. Top up with seed milk (sesame and walnut this time) and sugar.

A mix of homemade hash browns, white rice, sauteed onion, garlic and mushrooms, salt, seasoning and a generous serving of diced cabbage.

Good to go till at least mid afternoon.

I made sprouted barley flat bread this morning, from barley I put through the sprouting process myself. The sprout cycle was right around (if just a little before) the point for extracting malt (as one does when making beer), so when cooked, it was slightly sweet. Very yummy. Barley is a little harder to work with (stretch) than wheat, even after nearly 2 hours autolyse. I had to kneed for a little longer.

I wonder why I almost never see this in the store. Sweet barely bread is yummy!

This morning I had whole wheat toast with Vegemite, some home cooked French Fries, and scrambled tofu topped off with ketchup, salt and a dash of black salt (Indian salt).
