Bruschetta! Yum. Do you pronounce it correctly with a "k" sound? :lick:

I had some plain oatmeal today. I was hungry but didn't want to eat anything big.

Aye, with a K. I don't know if that's correct, but that's how I've always said it.

Oatmeal - haven't had it in ages. Not sure if I even have rolled oats atm. I don't have many breakfast foods -not in my habits.

Fridge was just turned off and unplugged...I've taken the plunge into non-refrigeratedness...how long will I last? Time will tell.

Didn't you do that last year but not on purpose? How long did it last then?

Yeah, I've done it before, may have even posted about it here - but I remember the purpose trying to figure out what is causing some spikes in electricity usage. At that time I wasn't ready to unplug permanently, as I still depended on fridge quite a bit - and freezer, which is part of the unit. I'm still getting electricity usage spikes - and I literally am using nothing else except for the computer I'm on, a dehydrator and a washing machine (which doesn't account for them, I've checked and I get spikes on days when they aren't being used) and normal everyday things like electric clocks. I should have no electricity spikes - but I do and fridge is still the biggest suspect. At this point - I've learned enough so I really can do without it. Still want a freezer - but I'll get a separate one later.

Could it be the electric company doing it on purpose? The spikes?

I had tiny bits of leftovers today that I threw into a bowl for lunch LOL It was actually very good tasting but I was starving after my long walk and then working in the garage to organize things.

I don't know...and I don't think they would, not when such a thing could so easily be caught and exposed. I'll see what's up in a few days after analyzing my usage and perhaps making a few inquiries.

The last (solid) food I had was some chopped turnips/broccoli/re-hydrated chicken in a beautiful sauce that consisted of " 're-fried'(not really fried) beans (El Paso style)" - onion powder, chili flakes, tomato powder, added water and salt. Left to simmer under low heat for the better part of 2 hours. It was very tasty.

Speaking of leftovers - had I still had my fridge running, I would have kept the opened can of "refried beans" in it for like tomorrow or something - instead - I thought to make use of it quickly since I've got my fridge off - and it became part of a sauce for the evening meal.

Now I'm getting a bit toasted on some homemade wine. Cost me all of less than $2....

Blueberry pancakes. The blueberries I had frozen (since the pints were buy one get one free) and they were really mushy. I think they were too ripe when I put them in the freezer.

I just finished a tomato drink.

Consisted of: Tomato powder(homemade), sprouted lentil powder(homemade), celery salt(homemade) + water + olive oil. Better than anything I could buy at the store (and it's usually reconstituted anyway).

In a little bit I'm going to put on some pasta and have a pasta/veggie salad (lettuce/cabbage) with some sunflower seeds and homemade Italian dressing.

Fridge still turned off although I did turn it on briefly last night to chill some beers.

Spaghetti pasta with broccoli florets, spring onion, leek - with a combo sauce made from a combo of Italian powder and my Yum powder mixed with olive oil and apple cider vinegar. Plus a couple of handfuls of sunflower seeds.

Chick pea curry. To the chick peas I added potatoes, diced capsicum, peas, corn, carrot, a good amount of garlic, crushed ginger, and some chilli, coconut milk, and tomatoes. It is cooking now. On a simmer. I'll leave it cooking for 45 minutes and then check it. I may want to add some corn flour to thicken it a little. we'll see. I am simmering it open so some steam loss is expected and that may be sufficient to thicken it.

Tomato/celery/sprouted lentil/salt/garlic/onion powders + water.

Then Kale powder + water.

Now I'm going to cook up some pasta with just a bit of lettuce, garlic/onion and a little bit of chicken.

I'm making homemade pizzas today...Quad City style with barley malt syrup in the pizza dough crust. I can't wait :D I made the dough yesterday and it has to sit in the fridge 24-48 hours then I remove it and let it sit to rise for 2-3 hours.

Then I have to remove the sausage from the casing and instead of browning it on the stove top as normal, one guy said to form it into a hamburger patty and put it in the oven. Then it can be crumbled easily.

I forgot to buy tomato paste so I'm going to use my leftover pizza sauce that's in a jar. So it won't be all homemade :D
