Capsaicin appears to be good for all sorts of things. I love hot peppers, which is probably a very good thing for me.

Has anyone used herbs in a diffusser f for inhalation therapy? I have used essential oils in a diffusser until I broke my diffuser. I use spearmint and eucalyptus oil and lavender and chamomile oil.
Groovy! Years ago, some of us would use herbs in a different kind of 'diffuser' . It was also for inhalation. (The therapy came later) :hippie:

When I was a kid, Wildroot Cream Oil was an essential oil for keeping my pompadour looking cool.

I use aromatherapy oils too. Some, like theives oil that has euchalyptus etc is great for when grankids with runny noses are here. They match my Hymilain salt lamps well ;) I have a mix of patcholi and lavender infusing today. They need to be therapy quality tho to be effective. I just got some francincence lately.

Is your frankincense in oil form?

I think if we learn how to use herbs effectively, a lot of ills can be prevented or even cured.

No I didn't know that about walnuts. Have you tried the roots of Queen Ann's lace?

Yes, very good, make sure it is first year or else they will never get tender

Bumping up an old thread.

Is there a list of herbs known to make some medicines ineffective somewhere?

I remember reading somewhere that there's a particular enzyme in grapefruit juice that can play havoc with some kinds of medicine. I forget the details but the gist of the problem is that the body retains the medicine rather than processing it the way it should. I've seen a couple of medicines that include the instruction to avoid consuming grapefruit and grapefruit juice when using the medicine.

I remember reading about that...the grapefruit! I know with some medicines you need to take with food and others you have to wait an hour after taking them before you can even eat breakfast!

I noted it in particular because I'm rather fond of grapefruit. I don't eat them much but every once in a while I get a hankering for grapefruit juice. It has to be plain juice, I don't want it sweetened. I really don't see the point of taking something that's supposed to be sour and loading it with enough sugar to take the sourness away, might as well drink something else.

Not many people seem to like them. That's fine with me.... less competition for them :)

Yellow? Never seen those before. I've only heard of the pink kind.

I'd seen yellow grapefruit for years before I came across a pink one. I prefer pink grapefruit but will take either. I vaguely recall seeing red grapefruit a while back, from what I recall they looked like oversize oranges but tasted a lot more tart.
