Renske, is it something we said?

Autumn’s just not the same without you.
Let’s make up: upgrade and we’ll give you new features.

Get my new features

Hello Renske,

We noticed you no longer use our premium software. And we were wondering… was it us?

Was it something we said?
(We’ll talk less and remove our popups)

Or did you just need a bit of a change?
(We’ll give you our 2017 edition with new features)

Did you just need some space?
(We can fix that by freeing up gigabytes of space on your hard drive)

Were we going too fast?
(OK, but that’s because we want your PC to run at peak performance)

Did you want more privacy?
(We’ll block spies, wipe your digital tracks, and encrypt your private files)

Let’s make up. Come back and we’ll upgrade you to our 2017 edition with new features.

Upgrade me now.

Wishing you, as always, all the best.
Your Avira Team

Avira is free but it has too many annoying popups, avast has popups too. In the end maybe Microsoft's Windows Defender is the best choice. It's free and no popups and it doesn't slow one's computer too much and it seems to be fairly decent at virus detecting. But Windows Defender is not quite as effective as Avira and Avira is not quite as effective as Bitdefender.

It was for free, but then they kept saying I needed more protection and of course I was so stupid to fall for it. I still had the free version, but they want me to pay. Guess Avast will do the same after a while.

Yes, they all say you need more protection and then ask you to buy something. All except for Windows Defender. It doesn't nag you about buying anything.
