Limiting the size of images in signatures

Hello CH Community,

We have put some code into place that limits the height of images included in signatures with the IMG tags. This reduces the amount of scrolling while reading threads, which can be bothersome especially for those using mobile devices.

We used the same height restriction for images that are uploaded as signature pictures for consistency, which is 100px.

We certainly don't want to discourage images in signatures, but we also want people not to get discouraged when having to scroll past them while reading threads. We're trying to find a happy medium to maximize the number of people that are happy. :juggle:

Ruth, I am very sorry some of the newer policies we are putting into place don't work for you. We really aren't trying to make anyone unhappy, on the contrary, we are trying to make as many as happy as possible. We are still a relatively new site and as we grow we want to remain flexible...and this includes listening to our established members as well.

What size would you suggest, Ruth, that would make you happy but would not cause users of mobile devices to feel like the added scrolling is excessive? I can't promise that your suggestion would be what is settled upon, but your voice will be heard.

edit: Ruth, I would even be willing to make it so that users could individually opt to limit the height of signature images in their settings. Of course, I would have to discuss this with the staff, but I don't want you to feel that we aren't mindful of user feedback.
