The 500th year anniversary of the Reformation will happen in 2017. The Reformation was a wonderful thing in bringing back the truth of the gospel and even the Roman Catholic church was reformed in a way after that (for those who didn't know). But this topic isn't for that discussion...

What bothers me is looking through the most recent Concordia Publishing House catalog and seeing all the products for sale to celebrate the 500th Anniversary. I guess I'm disturbed that it's become a money maker. Have we lost focus?

I find it interesting that the anniversary is 2017 which to me is significant for the end events.

Yeah I agree with you but that's the nature of our society. On the other hand this event can bring out gifted authors to inform inquiring persons possiblely bringing new souls into the Kingdom. All of this costs money like for publishing and advertising. It can be used to Gods glory.

That's true. Even in the things we might frown upon, it can be used according to God's will. Good point!

Luther's revolt and the consequent reformation did not formally start until 1521.

It is believed that Luther posted the 95 theses on October 31, 1517 and each year around October 31, Lutherans celebrate Reformation day.

Then wouldn't that day be 95 theses day?

Because that is when historians mark the beginning of the Reformation since Luther called for reform.

Historians? Maybe religious ones.

You know humans. Any excuse to exploit a story for profit.

If they are selling keychains and breath mints, then I'd have a problem. But maybe not so much with books and gospel-centered T-shirts and such.

This is very interesting. Thank you for posting about it. I don't have an opinion on it, sorry.
