My thoughts on the various studies for virus treatment (not vaccine) is that we've heard that the virus keeps mutating and we also know that different immune systems respond differently to the virus. With that in mind, it makes sense that some treatments work for some people and other treatments do not help...especially if the mutation is in a cluster in one hospital group. We know that there is no one cure for the common cold and even cancer has various treatments that help one person but not the next.

Yes. But there are several others also. They don't show the dangers of the withdrawn study, but they also don't show benefit.

Sure, the whole study was withdrawn but from what I read studies into it are being resumed. I guess the faulty data impacted enough that it's worth exploring it further.

Weeks ago a friend who is familiar with antivirals mentioned that the main question over chloroquine wasn't whether or not it would kill the coronavirus but whether it would kill the virus with a dose that wasn't toxic to humans.

Indeed, and now it appears that much of the data used has come to be regarded as being of little if any value, and studies are resuming. It will be interesting to see if chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine do turn out to be useful. I read an article some time ago that said they needed to be administered in conjunction with a couple of other things (I think zinc and something else, but forget) for maximum effectiveness.

I've found it rather depressing to see that even things that may yet prove to be useful became politicised. I remember talking to a couple of people in the early days of the lockdown and at the very mention of chloroquine a Democrat-voting friend immediately scoffed, only to soften her tone when I mentioned the friend who is an expert in a related field and his thoughts, and a Republican-voting friend acted as if it were a wonder drug only to similarly soften his tone.

We should be careful to not be presumptuous that we are protected with anything we take, even something being called a cure, or with using masks. Some of us are really vulnerable, to whom exposure to the pandemic virus would be critical to life, others will have little of symptoms to show, who could unknowingly spread the virus. Distancing still is the best way for prevention.

People think I'm weird because I refuse to watch or be hypnotized by corporate media. There is a good reason for this. I simply don't like being lied to and manipulated by entities with a track record of doing so.
