You know what, when you get elected Pope and are speaking ex cathedra then you can say that you're speaking "the very truth of God". But for the time being how about you be content with speaking your own words as if they were significant or well founded in holy scripture and we can decide if you're right or if you are not

It pleases me that you quote from a Papal Encyclical from Pope Saint Peter the first, the first pope of the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church when he was resident in Rome not too long before he was martyred. His letters are dear to me as one of the faithful in the Church that Jesus Christ founded and over which he appointed Pope Saint Peter the first to govern and over which saint Peter's successors have governed to this day.

Let us praise God almighty for the gift of his one, holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, the Catholic Church, for its constant testimony to the truth revealed by Jesus Christ and for the beautiful buildings raised in his honour and to the honour of his glorious saints and to most the most blessed, holy, pure, and good mother of the Lord, the blessed virgin Mary.

Notre Dame Cathedral was and will be quite beautiful. It was built for the glory of God. It is a blessing that people had 850 years to enjoy and will, God willing, have many more years to enjoy its beauty as testimony to God's goodness, purity, holiness, and compassion. It is also very appropriate that it is called Our Lady of Paris being a reference to the Blessed Virgin Mary who is the mother of the Lord Jesus Christ and consequently the mother of God manifest in the flesh.

We were talking about the Catholic churches. This thread is about the Catholic church.

I think it is terrible to build big expensive churches.

People already donated close to a billion dollars to fix the Notre Dame Cathedral.

It is a shame with so much money going to a building and so many people in hospitals that need help.

Notre Dame Cathedral was and will be quite beautiful. It was built for the glory of God. It is a blessing that people had 850 years to enjoy and will, God willing, have many more years to enjoy its beauty as testimony to God's goodness, purity, holiness, and compassion. We don't really debate denominations per se here...

We do discuss doctrines and practices.

IF you have a specific doctrine to discuss, you may present it in either Christian doctrine or in Speculative Theology (depending on what it is and how you want it discussed; staff can help you). My recommendation is that you state the doctrine (you mentioned Catholicism; it is especially easy in this regard since its theology is well summerized in its Catechism). Then you can relate why you agree or disagree.... and see where the discussion goes. You will get further (and avoid talks from the Staff) if you only discuss the doctrine and not anyone participating in the thread (whether they are "for" or "against").

I came to the news section about the burning of notre dame cathedral and, I didn't do wrong to say that I wouldn't want to step foot in another Catholic church and the notre dame is a waste of money.

I also didn't need you to tell me that thread was not for debating all things Catholic.

Well you are playing favoritism for sure, which is not right. You put down a new member who gives a lot of time here. I haven't heard you publicly tell some of the people here to watch how they talk to me.
