I know of people who have been to AA and they accepted that a higher power could restore them to sanity as they were bowled over by alcohol. People have come up with different instances of what a higher power is to them. Can Christian people accept that others do not always have the same higher power or is that a stupid question?

There are other higher powers, as attested to by Ephesians 6. And I have no doubt that they could help someone stay sober as long as it keeps them from Christ.

So while I accept it, that doesn't mean it's good.

I think that AA is the best that human wisdom has to offer. We have a 13th step: The transforming power of the Holy Spirit that can give us freedom.

though it would take more explaining than i have time for right now .. the philosophy behind AA ,in the absence of the truth of the Lord jesus (which sets free)
binds people to their identity as alcoholics ..
where in contrast .. the lord jesus renewed my mind and healed my heart making me alive unto him - a new creature in christ Jesus ./

AA has helped manypeople and because of the reliance on a higher power many have accepted Christ as well. The founders of AA were christian and had a horrible drinking problem, they realized that not everyone would have the same faith they did but what they crafted reached out to everyone and made many christians

What do you mean?

i think he means your being pragmatic

pragmatic
praɡˈmatɪk/
adjective
dealing with things sensibly and realistically in a way that is based on practical rather than theoretical considerations.

where as i'm not dealing with the topic that way at all .. is see in its present form (ie what it has become) a grave error which i disagree with , '
Of course just because" i personally " disagree with it does not in itself make it a bad thing .

But the solution offered in the Gospel of the lord JESUS is powerful to the transforming of the heart and renewing of the mind and the setting free of the prisoner and is ,was and always will be, the superior AND eternal solution.

Yes. The problem with "alcoholism" is that it has been classified as a disease instead of as a sin problem.

It's surface level good. Just because some good might come from it does not make it good.
However, AA is good, have never heard anything bad about it and I have known a few that it has helped tremendously. There is one man in our church that has been sober for 30 years and a christian for 29, without AA he would probably be dead

It's a false gospel. That's what makes it bad.

Teachs people to make amends, to seek forgiveness and to grant it, to seek a higher power, a lot of christian values there and it leads many to Christ as well.

And if that higher power is the Angel of Light?

You should really read the beginnings of AA and the two men who founded it. What led to it was a bible in a hotel room,

I've been to countless AA meetings. Read the book. I'm intimately familiar with it.

Plus, that didn't answer my question. What if the higher power is the Angel of Light?

What ifs dont change the facts does it? What if you believe in something you call God but is not the one true God? I dont know but I am willing to believe that you believe in God.

I think that others can have higher powers not the same as mine and it works for them so why should I say it's wrong?

What ifs do change the facts. If the higher power is Satan, and that person stays sober for 30 years, what benefit is that to them?

Because if it's not Christ, then they are hellhound.
